Abstract

This article analyzes the idea of solidarity in Axel Honneth’s Justice Theory. In his work, Honneth updates Hegel’s Ethical Theory and he frames the existence of freedom spheres, which one of them is the social freedom, which is based on personal relationships, market and political institutions. In Freedom’s Right, Honneth develops a theory which seeks to analyze the problems of democracy develop in contemporary societies. Moreover, that theory sets the solidarity up as one of the legal assumptions to building a virtuous democracy, which is anchored in civil participation.
