Abstract

The present text aims to critically review the book “Foucault e a Justiça Pós-Penal: críticas e propostas abolicionistas” by Clécio Lemos, in order to highlight Foucault's contributions to penal abolitionism. Thus, using the dialogue with authors who contributed to the development of penal abolitionism as a theory in the national and global scopes, the review presents Lemos' work, reaffirming the author's proposal for the necessary dialogue between criminology and philosophy. Thus, the objective was to present to the public a work under debate through a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, introducing penal abolitionism as a delegitimizing theory of punishment under the approaches of criminology and philosophy developed by Michel Foucault.
